How to Hang Kitchen Cupboards on Plasterboard

Step 1: Choose the right fixings

The first step is to choose the right fixings for your plasterboard. There are two main types of fixings you can use: plasterboard plugs and hollow-wall anchors.

Plasterboard plugs are small plastic plugs that are inserted into the plasterboard. They work by expanding inside the plasterboard, creating a secure fixing for your screws.

Hollow-wall anchors are metal anchors that are inserted into the plasterboard. They work by spreading out behind the plasterboard, creating a larger surface area for the screws to grip onto.

For hanging kitchen cupboards, we recommend using hollow-wall anchors. They are more secure than plasterboard plugs and are less likely to pull out of the plasterboard.

Step 2: Mark out the holes

Once you have chosen your fixings, you need to mark out the holes where you will be drilling.

To do this, hold the cupboard up against the wall and use a pencil to mark the top and bottom corners of the cupboard.

Next, measure the distance between the two marks and divide it in half. This will give you the center point of the cupboard.

Mark the center point on the wall, and then measure down from the top of the cupboard to the center point. This will give you the height at which you need to drill the holes.

Repeat this process for all of the cupboards.

Step 3: Drill the holes

Once you have marked out the holes, you need to drill them.

To do this, use a drill bit that is the same size as the diameter of your fixings.

Drill the holes to a depth of about 25mm.

Step 4: Insert the fixings

Once you have drilled the holes, you need to insert the fixings.

To insert a plasterboard plug, simply push it into the hole until it is flush with the surface of the plasterboard.

To insert a hollow-wall anchor, insert the anchor into the hole and then use a screwdriver to tighten the screw until the anchor is flush with the surface of the plasterboard.
